The area – The village
At 1000 m above sea level, over Vergina, it is 28 km far away from both Katerini and Veria. The Village looks out over the Gulf of Thermaikos, the city of Thessaloniki and the plain of Katerini. The village is surrounded by a dense forest mostly with chestnut, beech and oak trees, where cold, clear water gushes out, indicative of the clear subsoil of the area. The climate of the area is among the best in Europe, while the village is famous for the longevity of its inhabitants. The village is familiar to many people who have been offered hospitality to “Apostle Pavlos” institution camp. The camp facilities are situated in the village, and they are by now, an integral part of the life in the small village. Elafina has accommodated our guesthouse called “Mouson Melathron” since 2007. The guesthouse was named after the muses of Pieria. In February of the same year it started accommodating its first guests…
